Insomniacs Dream by ~sophOcleszia

He always wakes on tomorrows
his trying eyes then tick
a vision blurred by constant searching
to form a clear image with every blink
hours of slumber had no use
stealing away patience
a waste they happen to be
an escape, a failed mission.
He gets up ridden from the mattress
and sees no sunlight from the blinds
only specs of white and yellow which grew
vivid as the dark turned calm.
With sleep that does not come easy
but which came as morning broke
He sees no day in this tomorrow
for he caught up with the evening
which seemed abandoning and cold
he stood restless and pulled away
the covers on the wall
glanced outside his window, thinking:
"From this gutter, I will look to the stars."
